Vitiligo Patches
Vitiligo is a chronic skin disorder characterized by white skin patches that show up on different parts of the body. To understand vitiligo disease we must first know about the skin. The human skin is layered. The upper layer called the epidermis gives the skin its color. There are special cells in the lower section of the epidermis called melanocytes.Melanocytes are responsible for producing a pigment called melanin. Melanin is the pigment which gives skin its color and also protects us from harmful rays from the sun. In vitiligo disease, the melanocytes stop producing melanin for some reason and this causes white vitiligo patches to appear on the skin.
The most common reason is said to be autoimmune. A body has a self defense system which we call as the immune system. Sometimes this immune system goes on overdrive and starts attacking the body itself. In this case, it attacks the melanocytes and thus stops the production of melanin, which in turn causes white patches to appear on the skin. Other than autoimmune, the disease can also be inherited through genes and it maybe a viral as well.
The disease doesnt have any further physical affect. Other than the skin color the patients live normal lives as far as their bodies are concerned, but, it has tremendous affect on the psychological health of the patients. The patients may have mood disorders and may feel depressed about their appearance and develop a complex.
Vitiligo maybe classified into two forms namely, non-segmental (NSV) and segmental (SV). The latter can further be classified into five more forms.
In the case of segmental vitiligo(SV), the cause is rarely autoimmune and the affected skin regions are very predictable and are areas which are associated with dorsal roots of the spinal cord. This pccurs in early teenages in most cases. This type of vitiligo spreads much more rapidly than non-segmental if not treated on time. It is said that through topical treatment it can be cured.
Non-segmental Vitiligo (NSV) can occur in patients of any age group. This form of vitiligo can be distinguished from the other as this appears in symmetric patterns. The white skin patches may be smaller in the start and grow with time.
In some patients the size of the patches grows so much that most of their body is covered with white skin. This is called as universal Vitiligo. Generalized vitiligo is the most common form of non-segmental vitiligo and it is characterized by wide and randomly distributed white patches Focal Vitiligo is more common is young children and can be seen as small macules developing on the skin.
Acrofacial vitiligo is seen around the fingers and the face but a thin line of skin around the lips is spared. Muscosal vitiligo is the depigmentation of the mucous membranes only.
There are many treatment options for vitiligo disease but none of them can be said to cure vitiligo completely and other than being time consuming these treatments are mostly very expensive and health insurance rarely covers this type of a disease.
Cures for vitiligo patches don't work for everyone. A treatment that works very well for one patient might show poor results on another patient. The method used mostly is covering up the scars temporarily with makeup or tanning creams. This is of-course not a cure but hides the white patches for better public acceptance. Some patients use steroid creams which also help in some cases. These creams can not be used for long because among the many side affects they carry, one side affect is thinning of skin which is permanent. Other treatment options include medicinal drugs and exposure to ultraviolet light. This also has side affects and some are painful like sunburns.
The best cure however is the Vitiligo Oil that we offer here at www.vitiligo-disease.com. It is 100% natural and caries absolutely no side affects and has been proven to remove all the white vitiligo patches. It does this by increasing melanocyte production in the skin which results in production of melanin which restores the skins original color. Best of all, we offer money-back guarantee. If the scars don't go, you can get your money back.
